Title: Salem Falls
Author: Jodie Picoult
Published: April 3, 2001
A handsome stranger comes to the sleepy New England town of Salem Falls in hopes of burying his past: once a teacher at a girls' prep school, Jack St. Bride was destroyed when a student's crush sparked a powder keg of accusation. Now, washing dishes for Addie Peabody at the Do-Or-Diner, he slips quietly into his new routine, and Addie finds this unassuming man fitting easily inside her heart. But amid the rustic calm of Salem Falls, a quartet of teenage girls harbor dark secrets -- and they maliciously target Jack with a shattering allegation. Now, at the center of a modern-day witch hunt, Jack is forced once again to proclaim his innocence: to a town searching for answers, to a justice system where truth becomes a slippery concept written in shades of gray, and to the woman who has come to love him.
5 Stars
Review: Salem Falls was my first time experiencing Jodi Picoult's writing. I have to say that I loved this book and it will not be the last time I read one of her novels. This book had a bit of everything. Mystery, love, drama and witches. Yup, you heard me right, witches. I have always loved anything to do with witches and tried to convince my husband to take me to Salem for our honeymoon. Needless to say that didn't happen, but this book had just a bit of Wicca in it and it made this book even better. This book had a lot of twists and turns because one minute you would be rooting for, Jack, the man accused of raping a girl, and then the next minute you would be wondering if he actually did it or not. This book left you guessing and kept you interested the whole time.
