Vicks is the wild child whose boyfriend has gone suspiciously quiet since he left for college; Mel is the newcomer desperate to be liked; and Jesse will do anything to avoid a life-altering secret. Each one has her own reason for wanting to get the heck out of their nowheresville town, even just for the weekend. So they climb into Jesse's mom's "borrowed" station wagon and head south. Hearts will be broken, friendships will be tested, and a ridiculously hot stranger could change the course of everything.
Review: I have had this book on my shelf for a while and after I started it I could not put it down, I wish I would have read it a long time ago. I feel in love with all the characters in this book. It really reminded me of when I was in school, it had lots of girl fights. You know the ones, the she said this and she said that and now i'm not talking to you kind of fights. I found them really humorous in this book, I think because it reminds me of myself and my friends when we were growing up.
You meet 3 main characters in the book. Jesse, to me she was sort of the main character, not sure if that is how the book was supposed to be but she stuck out the most to me. She lives with her mom in a trailer and has never really had a lot. She seems to want to do the right thing but her appearance and the way that she acts doesn't seem that way. Like when she takes her moms car without asking and her and the girls decided to take a little road trip to see one of the girls' boyfriend.
Then we have Vicks, she is dating a boy named Brady who goes off to college. After a couple of weeks she is missing him and hasn't heard much of him. So when Jesse brings up the idea to go on the road trip Vicks is ready to go and see her man. I found their relationship kind of funny, especially towards the end when you find out why he hasn't been calling Vicks.
And then there is Mel. Mel is the shy girl that wants to make new friends and fit in. But making friends with Vicks and Jesse is harder than she thought. Especially since Mel's family has money and Mel can have and get anything she wants. I have to say that Mel was my favorite in the book. I really liked her character and I liked her new found love with Marco.
This was just a really fun, quick read and I really enjoyed it.
First Line: At the end of July, back when I was still fun, I bought Vicks two tufts of fake armpit hair from Jokes-A-Plenty.

I liked this one too though I read it a while ago. I'm a big fan of road trip books.
